Update: I’m glad that the files are still (potentially) helping people. I’ve upgraded to the Yeti mic from Blue, and I’m using it on a Mac now.
You may have noticed that the site has been moved around a bit, repurposed, and generally fucked up. I have set up a redirect from the old link to this page so that it lands here, and I’ve kept the files in case anyone needs them.
Good luck to all of you, and if I ever come across a fix or something for any of your problems, I’ll gladly post it.
Also, please keep in mind that these patches are likely for older models of the Snowball, and may not be what you need to solve your problems.
From Lee’s comment above:
From Blue Mic’s FAQ on Snowball
“Is the Snowball compatible with Windows Vista?
Snowballs manufactured after July, 2007 (with serial numbers higher than 76-065000) are Vista compatible. Snowballs with serial numbers lower than this are not Vista compatible.”

Okay, I received from Blue Microphones, the files needed for the Snowball Mic High Gain fix. The letter read:
Our Snowball link has been absolved of its duties due to the Snowball shipping with high gain firmware installed “stock”. If you need firmware, attached you can find a high gain version for Windows XP and a version that can be run on Mac OSX. Please note that you’ll need administrative privileges to run the file and then you’ll need to reset your Operating System input and recording software input too.
Here is the Windows version: win_snowball_high Here is the Mac Version: updatesnowball_mac_high_gainversion I’ll keep them on my site and my hard drive so that anyone who needs it can come and find it. AB
